Massive open online courses (MOOCs) in genomic variant interpretation: An innovative education strategy for the growing genetic counselor workforce
This paper assesses the use of two massive open online courses (MOOCs) on variant interpretation. The genetic counsellor workforce historically lacks consistent training in variant interpretation. 17 genetic counsellors felt the MOOCs were relevant and would recommend them. These results suggest that MOOCs are scalable and can complement existing training.

Non-invasive prenatal testing: use of cell-free fetal DNA in Down syndrome screening
This editorial introduces non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) in Down syndrome screening. The article briefly covers the background and methods of the technique, and the ethical, legal and social implications of NIPT’s use in Down syndrome screening. Since this publication, NIPT is now included in the National Genomic Test Directory.
