Description
Who is this module aimed at?
This module is aimed at anyone who would ordinarily need to go into a genomics laboratory to view how nucleic acid is extracted from FFPE tissue, most commonly trainee lab technicians and STP students.
What will I learn?
By the end of the session, you will be able to:
- identify the principle components of nucleic acid extraction from FFPE samples;
- outline the quality control procedures used during nucleic acid extraction from FFPE samples;
- explain the key steps in the procedure to extract nucleic acids from FFPE samples; and
- describe how nucleic acid extraction from FFPE samples is used in a laboratory environment.
How will I learn?
This module is delivered through virtual reality headsets based at the seven Genomics Laboratory Hubs (GLHs) in England. It is available to undertake as part of a trainer-led session or as a standalone resource for self-led learners. Both modes of delivery contain opportunities for learners to reflect on what they have seen in the VR film, as well as a short assessment.
How can I sign up?
Those interested in undertaking this module should contact their local GLH laboratory training lead.
