Description
This podcast features Anneke Lucassen, who is Professor of Clinical Genetics within Medicine at the University of Southampton and Chair of the British Society for Genetic Medicine. She talks about some of the key considerations regarding ethics and data in relation to genomic healthcare, and the conversations that nurses may find themselves having with colleagues and patients.
The Genomics Conversation
In March 2018, the Genomics Education Programme launched its first annual #GenomicsConversation, which that year was aimed at nurses and midwives.
The aim of the week was to encourage all nurses and midwives to engage with colleagues, patients or friends through social media to start a bigger conversation about genomics and its applications in nursing and midwifery practice.
Key partners from within nursing and midwifery helped us to facilitate the week and increase awareness within their fields. Activities were designed to get people talking, and nurses and midwives were asked to make a pledge to share what they had learned during the week with a colleague or their team.
