Description
Through the NHS Genomic Medicine Service, genomics is set to play an increasingly important part in routine healthcare, meaning more patients and health professionals than ever are likely to encounter it. As such, more professionals may have to have genomic conversations with those unfamiliar to the terminology associated with this area of healthcare.
Dr Jargon: Genomics has been developed as a fun, engaging and interactive way for healthcare professionals to practice communicating genomic terminology in a clear, accessible manner, avoiding ‘jargon’ and the confusion it can cause.
During the game, players are given a genomic term and must describe it without using the ‘jargon’ words listed on the card. The aim is to describe as many terms as possible before the timer runs out.
Who should play this game?
To get the most benefit from the game, players should be familiar with genomic terminology. This game is not suitable for those with little to no knowledge of genomics.
This game has been developed to complement training programme curricula and can be used as a teaching tool for any training activities, including CPD events.
