Applications open for Integrated Clinical Academic Programme
Funded opportunities available for post-doctoral level clinical research in genomics, research training and professional development
The Integrated Clinical Academic (ICA) Programme, funded by Health Education England and jointly managed by the National Institute for Health Research has opened applications for its doctoral and post-doctoral schemes.
The programme provides opportunities for healthcare professionals (excluding doctors and dentists) to undertake fully-funded clinical research, research training and professional development, while maintaining their clinical practice and salary. It is aimed at those wishing to develop careers that combine clinical research and research leadership with continued clinical practice and clinical development.
The programme consists of five levels: Internships, Pre-doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowships, Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowships, Clinical Lectureships and Senior Clinical Lectureships.
Research and the genomics workstream
The Genomics Education Programme is keen to encourage applications to the programme from those with an interest in genomics. The scheme will help build the capability and capacity of the current workforce by enabling genomics research and bringing new-found genomic knowledge and skills into practice within the NHS.
The priority area is the 100,000 Genomes Project and the implementation of the NHSE personalised medicine strategy. Focuses include all GeCIP* domain areas, annotation and validation, multi-omics, cell free circulating tumour DNA analysis, health economics and the psychosocial aspects of genetic counselling.

How to apply
Applications are open for the Clinical Lectureship and Senior Clinical Lectureship levels until 19th April 2018, and for the Clinical Doctoral Research Fellowship scheme until 27th April 2018.
