Changes to online learning programme
New host platforms set to enhance learning, support existing teaching methods and provide a valuable learning hub for a wide audience
From Wednesday 13th September three of the Genomics Education Programme (GEP) courses; 100,000 Genomes Project: Preparing for the Consent Conversation, Introduction to Bioinformatics and Sample Processing & DNA Extraction will be available through the e-Learning for Healthcare (e-LfH) and eIntegrity platforms.
e-LfH and eIntegrity
e-Learning for Healthcare is an award-winning e-learning programme providing national quality assured online training content for the healthcare profession. e-LfH is a Health Education England Programme working in partnership with the NHS and professional bodies to support patient care by providing e-learning to educate and train the health and social care workforce.
eIntegrity is the international arm of e-LfH and licenses high-quality e-learning programmes for health professionals worldwide. This enables individuals and healthcare organisations globally to benefit from education developed by Health Education England (HEE) in partnership with the UK’s Royal Colleges and professional bodies, while also bringing revenue back into HEE.
Access to online courses
The decision to transfer the courses has been made with a view to opening them up to as many healthcare professionals as possible, by using a platform that all NHS professionals are familiar with, as well as enabling us to better signpost learners to other courses of interest.
All NHS staff and GEP partners (including universities) will be able to access our courses free of charge via e-LfH. Exisiting non-NHS learners can continue to access the courses temporarily, but after this temporary period ends there will be a small charge and users must register with eIntegrity to continue to access the courses.
Over the coming months more GEP courses will be migrated onto the genomics education and training hub to meet the growing demand. All other tools and resources will continue to be available on the Genomics Education Programme website.
