HEE tender for Master’s programme in genomics now live
HEIs can submit a tender to provide HEE’s Master’s programme in genomics in the South West area
After identifying a gap in provision for its Master’s in Genomic Medicine in the South West Local Education and Training Board area, HEE is inviting interested Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to submit a tender to provide the course.
This is an exciting opportunity for HEIs in the South West to engage with and support the ongoing work of the Genomics Education Programme (GEP), to upskill and transform the workforce in order to meet the future ambitions of the NHS. The GEP is looking for providers with a strong track record of providing innovative teaching programmes and delivering excellent research-informed teaching, as well as a proven knowledge and expertise in genomic medicine. Nine institutions have already begun delivering the programme, with over 140 healthcare professionals starting their studies.
Why the South West?
As a national programme, the GEP receives increasing interest in its Master’s and continuing personal and professional development (CPPD) modules, but the institutions currently offering the course are hard for healthcare professionals based in the South West to access. This tender exercise will identify teaching provision in the region, ensuring good national coverage of the Master’s and CPPD programmes.
Any interested HEIs can now download the tender documentation from https://in-tendhost.co.uk/leicspart/aspx/Home. Bidders will need to register and complete the online documentation before 21st December 2015. The winning bid will be announced in March 2016.
Successful bidders will be expected to deliver a validated programme for a first cohort beginning in May/June 2016, and a second in autumn 2016.
