Master’s funding available for part-time study
Full funding confirmed for the 2016/17 academic year for those wanting to study the master’s in genomic medicine
Healthcare professionals who wish to study for a Master’s in genomic medicine over two years on a part time basis are encouraged to complete and submit their application for funding for this coming academic year (2016/2017), as full funding cannot be guaranteed for future academic years. Those thinking about studying in 2017/18 should note that HEE can only fund the first 12 months of any part-time study, funding for additional years is currently under negotiation.
The popular part-time study route allows students to balance work and home life with their studies, and the choice of optional modules also allows students to learn more about Genomics in a way that is more relevant to their day to day role.
The Master’s in Genomic Medicine and associated CPPD modules have been designed to support the transformation of the NHS through the development of genomic technologies and interventions, in particular to support the work of the NHS England Genomic Medicine Centres and the 100,000 Genomes Project.
A number of individual course modules are available as CPPD for those who do not have the time or resource to commit to the full Master’s.
The course is being offered through a national network of ten universities and is aimed at NHS healthcare professionals working in England from the full range of professional backgrounds and groups (such as medicine, nursing, healthcare scientists and technologists). Candidates who have applied to their chosen university and have had their place accepted can apply for HEE funding to cover the cost of the course or the selected CPPD module(s).
