Description
In this podcast, Dr Michelle Bishop – Education Development Lead for the Genomics Education Programme and member of the council of the British Society for Genetic Medicine – explains what genomics is, why it is important that nurses, midwives and the wider workforce are aware of its role in healthcare, and where they can go to learn more.
The Genomics Conversation
In March 2018, the Genomics Education Programme launched its first annual #GenomicsConversation, which that year was aimed at nurses and midwives.
The aim of the week was to encourage all nurses and midwives to engage with colleagues, patients or friends through social media to start a bigger conversation about genomics and its applications in nursing and midwifery practice.
Key partners from within nursing and midwifery helped us to facilitate the week and increase awareness within their fields. Activities were designed to get people talking, and nurses and midwives were asked to make a pledge to share what they had learned during the week with a colleague or their team.
