New in GeNotes: Gastro-Hepatology
A new collection of genomics educational resources for gastroenterologists and hepatologists is now available, expanding our GeNotes to 10 specialty areas
NHS England’s Genomics Education Programme has added a new collection for GeNotes (genomic notes for clinicians) – our flagship genomics education resource co-created with clinicians in the NHS.
The new Gastro-Hepatology collection joins existing specialties such as endocrinology, oncology and neurology, and has been developed by leading experts in gastroenterology and hepatology, including Dr Kevin Monahan, Professor Guruprasad P Aithal and Dr Robert Scott. This collection aims to meet a wide spectrum of genomics education needed for these specialist communities – from when and how to order genomic testing for a patient with a family history suggestive of Lynch syndrome to the underlying genomics at play in hereditary pancreatitis.
What is GeNotes?
GeNotes is an online resource housing a collection of genomics-focused reference articles for healthcare professionals. The peer-to-peer resources are designed to support busy clinicians with the demands of identifying and understanding more about genetic conditions and how to navigate genomic testing.
The first tier of resources, In the Clinic, features easy-to-follow, short summaries covering various presentations and explaining how to request testing, where relevant, through the National Genomic Test Directory.
The second tier, the Knowledge Hub, features resources about genetic conditions such as Lynch syndrome as well as a catalogue of other genomics-focused learning, covering core concepts such as genetic inheritance and what we mean by the diagnostic odyssey.
GeNotes resources are updated annually or bi-annually to ensure alignment with the test directory and other best practice guidelines.
GeNotes in your specialty
GeNotes now covers 10 specialty areas, with more in development. If you think your speciality should be included, or you’re interested in getting involved in developing GeNotes resources, please get in touch.
